DOES IELTS HAVE A SPECIAL ANSWER SHEET?
Yes, except for the Speaking section, the other three sections are attempted on answer sheets offered by IDP/British Council at their exam centers.
Reading and Listening sections’ answers are transferred on both sides of the same sheet. For the Writing module, separate sheets are given for Tasks 1 and 2. The structure of the answer sheet is the same for both IDP and British Council.
The written work answer sheet bears the logos of IDP, British Council, and the University of Cambridge, the candidate’s name, centre code number, candidate number issued by the exam conducting authorities, module selected, and date, are in the segments below the logos. Task 1 and Task 2 are additionally mentioned below this. At the bottom of the sheet, are segments for the examiner’s use. The scores are allocated here in these sections by two examiners.
Listening and Reading sections are answered on both sides of the same answer sheet. There are segments given for filling in the applicant’s name and the candidate’s number, which must be in capital letters. The three-digit language code, gender, module selected, test date, centre code, date/day of exam, month, and year, are to be shaded in.
Other than these particulars, both the Reading and Listening sections’ answer sheets will have 2 vertical columns with 20 horizontal rows each, where students can fill in their answers. The total correct answers are written at the bottom of the sheet along with the band scores by the examiner.
It will be helpful if students acquaint themselves with the format of the IELTS answer sheet before the exam.
