The Listening test consists of 40 questions divided in 4 sections with 10 questions each. The first section begins with the instructions for the test and an example question is answered for the reference of the examinee. The first section is generally a conversation between two speakers
The second section is generally a monologue. The first 2 sections are mostly related to educational or training contexts. The third section is a conversation between two to four people, and the fourth section is a monologue. All 4 recordings are played once only. Before the recordings are played, you get 30 to 45 seconds to read the questions related to the recording. Study the questions carefully and try to anticipate what you might hear.
Question types used are:
- Multiple choice questions.
- Matching or labelling – plan/map/diagram.
- Completing flow charts, forms, summaries, and sentences.
- Short answer questions which can be answered in up to 4 words
